How to Analyze Western Blot Data
Last Updated on May 25, 2023 by Sara Assem Western blot is an indispensable mechanism in the modern biomedical research laboratory, as well as in laboratories doing research in other areas. It is considered as an analytical technique used mainly in molecular biology and immunogenetics where antibodies are used to specifically detect their antigen. Before discussing how to analyze western blot data, you can know more about the concept and processes of western blot from our article “Western Blot: Concept, How to Use It, and Its Applications.“ Western Blot The transfer of proteins or nucleic acids to microporous membranes is referred to as “blotting” and this term encompasses both “spotting” (manual sample deposition) and transfer from planar gels. Proteins that are resolved on sodium dodecyl sulfate- polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) gels are typically transferred to adsorbent membrane supports under the influence of an electric current in a procedure that is known as Western blotting (WB) or protein blotting. Western Blotting Steps 1- The first step in a western blotting is preparing samples: The samples are prepared and loaded onto a gel. Your sample could be tissue, cells, or another solution that you want to extract and analyze its protein. …

Cell Cycle Regulation: Cyclins and CDKs
Last Updated on June 18, 2023 by Sara Assem Before talking about cell cycle regulation, we should know more about the term “Cell Cycle” and what it means. Definition of Cell Cycle Cell cycle is the process through which cells replicate and make two new cells. We can also define cell cycle as a series of events that takes place in a cell as it grows and divides. The cell cycle is generally divided into two phases: interphase and mitosis. During interphase, the cell spends most of its time performing the functions that make it unique. Mitosis is the phase of the cell cycle during which the cell divides into two daughter cells. Stages of Cell Cycle A cell spends most of its time in what is called interphase, and during this time it grows, replicates its chromosomes, and prepares for cell division. The cell then leaves interphase, undergoes mitosis, and completes its division. The resulting cells, known as daughter cells, each enter their own interphase and begin a new round of the cell cycle. Interphase Stage The interphase stage of the cell cycle includes three distinctive parts: the G1 phase, the S phase, and the G2 phase. G1 is …

Newton’s First Law of Motion Examples in Everyday Life
Last Updated on April 11, 2023 by Sara Assem Newton’s laws of motion are three physical laws that establish the science of kinematics. These laws describe the relationship between the motion of an object and the force acting on it. They are essential because they are the foundation of classical mechanics, one of the main branches of physics. It was Isaac Newton who established these laws, and he used these laws to explain many physical systems and phenomena. In this article, we will discuss Newton’s first law of motion examples in everyday life. Sir Isaac Newton If we are going to talk about classical mechanics and applications of Newton’s laws of motion in daily life, we must first shed light on the founder of these laws and the one who has the credit for bringing them out to us, Sir Isaac Newton. Here are some quick facts about Isaac Newton Newton’s laws of motion were first published by Isaac Newton in his Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica in 1687 in 1687, which is the basis of classical mechanics. Newton used these laws to explain and investigate many physical phenomena. Newton showed that these laws in addition to the law of …
