Testimonial – Korri Thorlacius From Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Last Updated on June 20, 2022 by Mostafa “With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our university was put into a situation of having to offer our courses, including many science labs, online due to social distancing restrictions. We wanted to maintain the academic rigor of our second year genetics course laboratory component & offer the students an experience that was as similar as possible to being in face-to-face laboratories. We found ourselves in a situation that forced us to act quickly to find the best solution available to provide our students with a quality molecular genetics laboratory experience. The PraxiLabs simulations offered the best lab experience available to meet our needs. Their team worked closely with us to make the labs happen in a timely fashion. Their laboratory simulations are easy to use and the prices are affordable. The students felt it was an enjoyable experience & good solution to the in-person lab experience given the situation & would be happy to do more virtual simulations in the future.”

PraxiLabs Organized a Webinar “Will Education Go Back to the Way It Was, Or Is It Forever Changed?”

Last Updated on June 20, 2022 by Mostafa PraxiLabs organized a new webinar, which the company presents on a monthly basis during the second Wednesday of every month. The webinar for May came under the title “Will Education Go Back to the Way It Was, Or Is It Forever Changed?“    A panel discussion was organized last Wednesday, 19th May, in which we discussed with our experts the most important changes that happened over the last year as the coronavirus has forced universities and schools to change the way they educate students and which of them they think will stick around even after the pandemic and will be integrated into the education system permanently.  During the webinar, Dr. Khadija El-Bedweihy, PraxiLabs Founder & CEO, asked the expert panelists about their opinion on the effects of these changes on educators, their ability to cope and adapt, and their readiness to provide students with a quality learning experience, as opposed to just putting everything they did in class into Zoom. They also indicated that many teachers were satisfied with the learning outcomes and how this positively affected the students and also personally in terms of their acceptance of this experience. At the …

What Are The Three Basic Steps of Conventional PCR?

Last Updated on July 27, 2022 by Sherouk Badr Shehata Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is now a common and often indispensable technique used in medical and biological research labs for a variety of applications. These include DNA cloning for sequencing, DNA-based phylogeny, or functional analysis of genes, the diagnosis of hereditary diseases, and the detection and diagnosis of infectious diseases. The wide range of applications of PCR has led to an ever-growing list of variants of the technique. We will focus on the conventional PCR which is the most basic type of PCR reaction and this question: what are the three basic steps of conventional PCR.   About PCR  This technology is developed by Kary Mullis. In 1993, Mullis was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry along with Michael Smith for his work on PCR.  In 1989, Science magazine selected PCR as the “major scientific development” and Taq polymerase, the enzyme essential to PCR’s success, as “molecule of the year.” The advent of PCR meant that insufficiencies in the quantity of DNA were no longer a limitation in molecular biology research or diagnostic procedures. It is indeed difficult to find publications in the biological sciences that do not describe the …

PraxiLabs Organized a Webinar “Will Virtual Lab Simulations Replace Hands-On Real Labs?”

Last Updated on June 20, 2022 by Mostafa   Under the heading “Will Virtual Lab Simulations Replace Hands-On Real Labs?” a Panel Discussion was organized last Wednesday, 14th April, in which thought leaders in the edtech industry and professors from top ranked universities in the UK and the US came together to share their thoughts on some of the most interesting topics in edtech and virtual labs.   During the webinar, Dr. Khadija Elbedweihy, PraxiLabs Founder & CEO, interviewed the Expert Panelists and asked them some questions to benefit from their experience in using PraxiLabs virtual labs with their students and also the progress of edtech especially during and after COVID. “Why do you need labs in your courses? If they have always been very expensive and not every faculty and department can afford them, can you just do without them at all?”  “After being introduced to virtual labs and trying them yourselves, what changed from these thoughts and what stayed as is? So for example, did you have specific expectations or hypotheses that you wanted to verify and what did you find out?” “Which is more practical or convenient from an educational perspective: lab simulations or VR?” “How do …

9 Most Effective Applications of Redox Titration

Last Updated on May 25, 2023 by Sara Assem Have you ever thought “What are the principal sources of energy on this planet, both natural or biological and artificial?” “What are the reactions that allow energy to be extracted from molecules?” “What is responsible for cellular respiration and photosynthesis?” “What is the cause of minerals formation and mobilization and changes in rocks colors?” The answer is “Redox Reactions” which are the most important reactions in our life. In this article, we will discuss the analytical laboratory method that depends on redox reaction, which is called “Redox Titration” and focus on applications of redox titration, principles, and types. Redox reactions are all around us. In fact, much of our technology, from fire to laptop batteries, is largely based on redox reactions. Redox reactions take place through either a simple process, such as the burning of carbon in oxygen to yield carbon dioxide (CO2), or a more complex process such as the oxidation of glucose (C6H12O6) in the human body through a series of electron transfer processes.   Introduction An oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction is a type of chemical reaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two species. An oxidation-reduction reaction is …

Applications of Newton’s Laws of Motion in Daily Life

Last Updated on April 11, 2023 by Sara Assem How do things move and how do they stay constant? How do airbags work in cars? How do planes fly in the air? How does the water flow? Why do buildings look static and not fall off? How do cars work? Only physics and physics discoveries can answer all these questions and explain to us everything we see in our daily life. In this article, we will discuss Newton’s laws which are concerned with explaining the motion of things and applications of Newton’s laws of motion in daily life. We will also highlight the other most famous laws established by Isaac Newton.  So, what is the physics behind the explanation of such things that we see in our daily life? It is classical mechanics or Newtonian mechanics (relative to the scientist Isaac Newton, who is considered one of its greatest founders) and it is the oldest branch in the science of bodies motion (mechanics), which differs from modern physics that came later.   Sir Isaac Newton If we are going to talk about classical mechanics and applications of Newton’s laws of motion in daily life, we must first shed light on the …
